9th Annual Beautiful Souls Coffin Show
“The After Life”
This annual show is a multicultural fusion of the Mexican holiday, Dia de Los Muertos/Day of the Dead and the American holiday of Halloween.
Each year artists and community members are invited to paint, decorate, and or create a mini altar using the 12×17 wooden coffins.
This exhibition aims to celebrate both life and death as well as share culture and self expression.
What is the after life? Does life end at all or are we simply transformed into another form of self? These are some of the questions we make ask ourselves as we honor the sacred that is within and the divine in those who have inspired us or to whom we have lost in this world.
