South of the Tracks is pleased to present, Apocalyptic, Epic!, featuring works by Chicago-based artists Dan Bradica and John Opera as well as Los Angeles-based artist Dylan Mira. For its second exhibition, Apocalyptic, Epic!, utilizes Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting for Godot as a point of departure in the examination of the photographic medium and everything thereafter. The work of Dan Bradica and John Opera exemplify two concepts within photographic history, that of its scientific origins and conceptually observative nature, respectively, that continue to remain contemporary. As the pivot for Apocalyptic, Epic!, Dylan Mira’s installation, Hair Guitar, acts as photography’s lens based sibling in medium type (video) while simultaneously acting as Barthes’ “punctum” both mechanically and aesthetically. Due to the conceptually open nature of the play, Waiting for Godot duly acts as a backdrop, in addition to being a metaphor for the existential crisis contemporary photography and art finds itself in due to a recycling of 20th century art history.

Dan Bradica (B. 1988) is a Chicago-based photographer, who received his BFA at Columbia College Chicago (2011). He has exhibited work regionally and internationally, with recent exhibitions at David Weinberg Gallery (Chicago, IL), C33 Gallery (Chicago, IL), and Johalla Projects (Chicago, IL) while also being included in the BMO Harris Bank collection. Publications include Cercle Magazine – No.1 La Forêt (Strasbourg, FR), China Ping Yao International Photography Festival Catalog, Chicago Project IV Exhibition Catalog.

Dylan Mira (B. 1982) liminally Detroit, Los Angeles and on the Internet between the city of Berlin artists are scheduled for maintenance. It is the Art Institute of Chicago Film, Video and New Media BFA and UCLA she holds a MBA in new genres. His work has been exhibited in nature – this site, the Los Angeles Nomadic Division, Chicago Underground Film Festival, depressed and magazines, LA Art Book Fair, the Institute of Contemporary Art and including the preservation of the artist Anthology Film on display posting normal a wide screen space.

John Opera (B. 1975) is a Chicago-based photographer and educator. He received his BFA at SUNY New Paltz (1998) and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2005). He has exhibited his work nationally, with recent exhibitions at Michael Jon Gallery, (Miami, FL) and Longhouse Projects (New York, NY). In addition, Opera is included in various collections, among them the Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago, IL), O’Melveny & Myers LLP (Los Angeles, CA), the Burchfield-Penney Art Center (Buffalo, NY), and the Ruth Horwich Collection (Chicago, IL).
