Manual of Instructions is a duo show consisting of new collaborative works by Christian Gutierrez and Mikey Mosher. The show engages with the concept of structured play stemming from the instructional booklet of a 1960s Meccano erector set. The set prompts the user to construct a variety of different forms, a sword, an anchor, a car, a dog, all from the same limited set of materials. This mindset of using the limited objects at one’s disposal is extended to the sculptures in the show, often but not always, integrating the objects, booklets, and boxes from the set into the pieces themselves.
