This month we will open the night from Beth McDonald playing solo tuba w/ electronics. She’s just released two brand new albums of solo material exploring deep electronic drones and gorgeous acoustic environments. We’ll then see a trio set from McDonald, multi-instrumentalist Ro(b)//ert Lundberg, and trombonist Riley Leitch. If you’d like to participate in the open jam (any femme / non-binary folks), please email pleiades@elasticarts.org
Artist Bios
Beth McDonald is a classically trained tuba player gone awry. She performs mostly as an improviser, using the tuba acoustically or in conjunction with electronic processing. Beth performs with Edition Redux, the Duck Brain Ragtime Band, and other projects. She enjoys collaborating on cross-disciplinary performance projects, and has worked with artists and musicians such as Becky Grajeda, Nathanael Lee Jones, Isaac Turner, Franki Hand, Sasha de Koninick, and Mark Booth. Her new solo albums — the new moon’s out of the way and syenite & sodalite — feature improvisational landscapes of tuba and resonance. www.bethtuba.com —–
