Virginia Martinez: Adventures with Abuela

Virginia Martinez is a longtime Pilsen activist, leader, and author. Her two books, Adventures with Abuela, Let’s go to the Zoo and Adventures with Abuela, Let’s go to the Shedd Aquarium, capture the stories of a young boy named Rio and the time he spends with his grandmother.
All profits from the sale of this book will go toward providing books for child and parent support programs at Gads Hill Center, Mujeres Latinas en Acción and Association House in Chicago.

Rio lives in the metropolitan Chicago area. His Abuela loves to take him and his family to different parks and museums. Today, Abuela takes them to Brookfield Zoo where Rio learns that the animals are like him in some ways.
Adventures with Abuela, Let’s Go to Shedd Aquarium
Rio lives in the metropolitan Chicago area. His Abuela loves to take him and his family to different parks and museums. Today, Abuela and Rio embark on an adventure to Shedd Aquarium to take Wiggles, Rio’s seahorse companion, to find his seahorse friends before their naptime. Will they find them before time runs out?
