Tianna Bracey: Requested Permission
@ The Martin
2500 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Friday, August 6th, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Sunday, September 5th
Join us for opening weekend of Tianna Bracey’s solo exhibition: REQUESTING PERMISSION.
Requesting Permission is a series of works reimagining space as connections to ancestry. Tianna transforms portraits into whimsical snapshots to amplify the presence of generational storytelling by repurposing and reinventing elements from our daily surroundings. Each work aims to consider the ways in which familial ties, nostalgia, and memory could be woven into the fabric of our daily lives as an invitation to find purpose, strength and solace through heritage.
Tianna Bracey is an emerging visual artist based in Chicago, IL. She received a Bachelors of Art in Art History from the University of Missouri (Columbia, MO). Her work has been exhibited at The Chicago Athletic Association (Chicago, IL), Happy Gallery (Chicago, IL), and Zhou B Art Center (Chicago, IL). She has been featured in The Glossary and Sixty Inches from the Center. In 2021, she was awarded the Curious Creators Grant from curious elixirs (Brooklyn, NY).
Friday August 5th celebrate the opening with Tianna herself from 6pm-9pm. Entry is free! There will be a card-only bar with wine, beer and NA options for guests who are 21+.
Gallery hours are held the next morning from 11am-2pm and throughout the month until the show closing, September 5th.
Both The Martin and Split-Rail are ADA accessible. If you have any questions about access please don’t hesitate to reach out! The Martin & Split-Rail are currently both mask mandated, regardless of vaccination status.
