John Steck Jr: Pictures of you: Book Launch and Panel Talk

Join us as we welcome back our August Artist in Residence John Steck Jr. for a panel discussion and book launch of “Pictures of You”.
The book consists of disappearing photographs of every known photograph of the artist and his mother. The project features a box of unfixed contact prints that will fade with each viewing. During his residency, John produced a printed rendition of this project showcasing the nearly faded images in this series, which will be available for purchase at the event.
John will narrate a panel discussion featuring three local artists, Jasmine Mendoza (Dance Artist), Tony Jaramillo (Comedian) and a third guest (T.B.A.) The talk will center on a discussion of how other artists, including those in the panel discussion, have made work about their families and how different mediums translate this topic. Each artist in the panel discussion will perform using their practiced medium.
