As part of the first-ever Yo Solo Theatre Festival of Latino Solo Shows,
co- producers Teatro Vista and Collaboraction are pleased to announce
YO SOLO,
a companion art exhibition that will be on display throughout the three-week festival,
July 26 through August 12
in the gallery space adjacent to Collaboraction’s Pentagon Theatre
in the Flat Iron Building,
1579 N. Milwaukee Avenue, 3rd Floor.
The YO SOLO visual art exhibition will officially debut with
a free opening weekend reception in
Room 300 on Friday, July 27 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“The YO SOLO exhibition gathers the strong and individual voices of Chicagoland visual artists Alberto Aguilar, Paola Cabal, Maria Gaspar, Jorge Lucero and Josué Pellot,” said YO SOLO visual art curator Edra Soto. “This presentation will challenge the sometimes expected traditional Latin American art tendencies. Besides sharing in common their Hispanic ethnicity, these artists have distinguished themselves for their ability to manifest themselves using a sophisticated, yet accessible conceptual language. Aguilar constructs installations using found objects; Pellot allures the audience with iconic imagery; Gaspar and Cabal environments possesses delicately sublime qualities and Jorge Lucero’s impacts with his modern approach.”

The Yo Solo Festival is the latest collaboration between Teatro Vista, and Collaboraction, a Chicago-based arts organization of collaborative theater and experience makers.
