Dana DeGiulio and Carrie Schneider: A Conversation

Among other topics, painter Dana DeGiulio and photographer Carrie Schneider will talk about intimacy and its complexities while also exploring the roles that writing, language and gesture play within their mutual bodies of work.

Dana DeGiulio (b. 1978, Chicago Heights, IL) is a painter. MFA 2007 SAIC. Teaches undergrad painting + drawing studio courses and grad seminars at SAIC: faculty appointment 2008. Co-founded and co-operates Julius Caesar, an artist-run project space in Garfield Park. Has exhibited painting, drawing, video, and performative lectures in Chicago, Athens, Berlin, Prague, Dusseldorf, NYC, Detroit, etc. Writes too, reads. Delivered pizza for a while. Carrie Schneider (b. 1979 Chicago) makes performative photographs and short films. Recent solo exhibitions include the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, the Finnish Museum of Photography, Helsinki, Galleri KiT, Trondheim, and Monique Meloche Gallery, Chicago. Carrie earned her MFA from SAIC in 2007, after which she attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, on a Fulbright Fellowship. Currently Carrie is faculty at the International Center of Photography in New York, and is based in Brooklyn.
