Megan Greene: Beasts Unseen
@ Regards
2216 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60622
Opening Saturday, March 2nd, from 4PM - 7PM
On view through Saturday, April 13th
Megan Greene has long made drawings and collages that are both precise and improvisational. Unique to this show is an astrophysical quality in much of the work, loosely informed by her daughters’ interest in the solar system, if none of the actual science. These smooth, often dense colored pencil drawings form a closed universe of orbs and waves, radiance and refraction. Lines bend and probe, shapes echo and fold. The phenomena Greene depicts in her work are illogical yet convincing, like medieval illustrations of beasts unseen.
This is Greene’s third solo exhibition with the gallery. Based in Chicago, she studied at Rutgers, State University of New Jersey, and the University of Notre Dame. Recent exhibitions include the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo; Regards, Chicago; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago; Katharine Mulherin, Toronto; and Loudhailer, Los Angeles.
