Selina Trepp: animations to keep you sane and strong

Come by Experimental Station to share some homemade bread and spreads before listening to Selina Trepp talk about her pieces hanging in our entryway space.
Featured are her “animations to keep you sane and strong” (see below). Her website states that “These gif animations are to be used as an antidote to the toxic environment we currently find ourselves in. Please download and share widely. We have the power!”
Also included in the exhibit is a large foil sculpture that plays many roles in Selina’s practice, including hiding uglier elements of spaces she exhibits in as well as acting as a character of sorts in her stop motion animations created in her studio. Lastly, we have a copy of Selina’s coloring book that explains her practice, copies of it colored in by kids and pasted to the wall!
At this event, Selina will test out an animation work in progress that is created to be a visual score (premiering at the Gene Siskel Center this Fall!). Guests will be invited to pick from a variety of instruments on hand to perform along to the stop-motion animation being created in her studio (that the foil piece is featured in!).
Kids and all other ages are very welcome. Everybody is welcome. The space is wheelchair accessible.
