LEGACY is a portrait series that honors family bonds and heritage through the great migratory experience of African Americans moving to Chicago. Photographer Nicole Harrison honors this legacy by using portraiture as a way to build upon one’s family tree and to document our existence through imagery and narratives.
In celebration of Nicole’s work, SAIC at Homan Square will host a reception to promote discourse, explore the central themes of her exhibition, and provide space for artists to interact with the local community and share their own creative/artistic practices and ideas on Friday, December 7 at 5 – 8 pm. The LEGACY Exhibition + Reception are open to the public and may be attended at no cost.
