North Branch Projects is pleased to bring Community Binding to Humboldt Park.

2nd Sunday Community Binding sessions are free and open to the public. All tools and materials are provided and no experience is necessary for participants. Volunteer staff leads all studio sessions in folding, cutting, and preparing parts for blank books used in various projects.

An equal exchange policy is implemented, wherein participants are asked to make two books: one to keep and the other to offer to North Branch Projects to re-sell or add to the archive of community-made books. This exchange provides participants a way to support the mission non-monetarily, though donations are always accepted.

Since closing their Albany Park storefront space in 2014, North Branch Projects has continued to offer public bookbinding opportunities through pop-up workshops and partnerships with other community-driven spaces. The opening of a monthly series of Community Binding sessions at Read/Write Library begins a partnership with an arts organization who shares a similar mission in cultural production and civic engagement. The presence within the basement of Read/Write Library allows various projects to crossover in a makers’ creative space and continue North Branch Projects’ educational mission in the book arts.

Please RSVP by emailing northbranchprojects@gmail.com .

Light refreshments and snacks will be provided for the first in this series at Read/Write Library.
