Jul 28th 2018

Join us on July 28th for an opportunity to explore traditional Japanese Shibori! Participants will use 100% indigo dye and will be folding and binding fabric to color large swaths of unbleached 100% cotton muslin fabric to be used as beach or light picnic blankets. The first few minutes of class will be spent with a brief overview of the history of Shibori and it’s uses in ancient as well as modern art. We will then continue to binding and coloring our fabrics. This will be an extremely unique and seasonal class; participants will leave with a piece to enjoy through the summer and beyond. This is a chance to learn about the traditional and beautifully historic roots of textile dyeing. Blanket supplies are limited to 20 participants so please rsvp or bring a personal item to dye in case supplies run out. Class is free as always, children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult for Shibori, class is suitable for all experience levels.
