After School Special is pleased to announce the exhibition “QUILT BUDDIES PRESENT: DAY TRIP” featuring Jeremy Sublewski, Caroline Lee Liu, and Elaine Hsu. Sublewski, Liu, and Hsu are also recipients of After School Special’s 2017 exhibition grant, LUNCH MONEY.
In “Day Trip,” Jeremy Sublewski, Caroline Lee Liu, and Elaine Hsu (aka Quilt Buddies) aim to collapse their perspectives on the absurdity of everyday spaces and places through the frame of quilting. From the journey to the zone of totality during the 2017 solar eclipse, drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles, short trip from school to the textile outlet, and back home again, the artists celebrate their time on the road together. The trio plays with the language of sharing and exchange in friendship, and explores the ways it translates to image-making. Come to After School Special for Quilt Buddies’ upcoming Day Trip to Milwaukee to share their album of quilts with you!
