This single channel video installation first debuted at The Encyclopedic Palace at the 55th Venice Biennale, curated by Massimiliano Gioni in 2013, and received the prestigious Golden Lion special mention.
In Ricerche: three, Hayes interviews 35 students at Mount Holyoke College, an all women’s college in western Massachusetts, about issues surrounding sex, sexuality, and gender.
For this work, Hayes used Pier Paolo Pasolini’s cinéma vérité film Comizi d’Amore (1963) as the guidepost for a contemporary inquiry into the “sexual problem” in the contemporary United States.
