@ Harold Washington Library Center
400 S State St, Chicago, IL 60605
Opening Thursday, November 2nd, from 6PM - 7:15PM
For over a decade, Chicagoans have opened up the Chicago Reader to Plastic Crimewave aka Steven Krakow’s comic strip “Secret History of Chicago Music” to learn something new every other week. His work was recently compiled into the book My Kind of Sound, and he will come to discuss his work on the comic as well as his experience in the Chicago music community. Known as a psychedelic guru, Krakow is also the editor of Galactic Zoo Dossier, head of the Galactic Zoo Disk reissue label imprint, frontman for the band Plastic Crimewave Syndicate, and conductor of the Plastic Crimewave Vision Celestial Guitarkestra.
This program is presented as part of the 2017-2018 One Book, One Chicago season, exploring the theme “Music: The Beat of Our City” through Greg Kot’s book I’ll Take You There.
