Catholic Theological Union Mary-Frances and Bill Veeck Gallery is pleased to present Chicago Artists Interpret American Literature exhibit featuring the work of over 40 Chicago artists working in painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and other media. Their work is based on their personal reflections of works by American authors.
Exhibit artists have explored their personal history as readers and chose literature by an American author which touched them deeply and then created an image that interpreted those words. It is hoped this matching of words and visual art creates a synthesis which is intellectually stimulating and emotionally involving and which expands our knowledge of the unique experience of American life past and present.
