Good Enough: A Convention on Forms of Self-Reparation
@ SAIC MacLean Ballroom
112 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60603
Opening Saturday, May 6th, at 2PM
On view through Sunday, May 7th
Good Enough is an educational convention investigating how communities in the U.S offset the effects of oppression. The process of acutely identifying individual and community symptoms of otherness while locating collaborative solutions, Self-reparation, names the active labor performed under these conditions.
Good Enough offers the form of self-reparation through a methodology based on my personal experience. Through community dialogue on the extensiveness of contemporary race-relations, participants engage in bodily dance, martial arts and object making through artist facilitation. Within the convention structure, five distinct collaborative projects are presented, yielding a unique triangulation of movement, vocalization, and generating a rich toolkit that can be taken away.
