Kiam Marcelo Junio: Sacred Skin: Interlude

@ BOYFRIENDS

3311 W. Carroll St

Opening Saturday, June 4th, at 6PM

On view through Sunday, July 10th

SACRED SKIN: A Creation Myth in Five Parts is a research, embodiment, and material study of creation myths throughout pre/history, modern science, and religion. Chapter 1: The Big Bang and Chapter 2: On Earth as it is in Heaven were recently presented at Links Hall for An Evening of ACRE Performances (Chicago, 2016). SACRED SKIN: INTERLUDE invites the audience to immerse into an environment in flux between space and time, bodies of work, between worlds of intimacy, memory and fantasy.

Kiam Marcelo Junio (preferred gender pronoun: “they/their/them”) is a Chicago-based visual and performance artist. Their research and art work center around queer identity, Philippine history and the Filipino diaspora, American imperialism, and personal and collective healing through collaborative work and individual WERQ. Kiam served seven years in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. They were born in the Philippines, and have lived in the U.S., Japan, and Spain.
