s+s project in collaboration with Archer Beach Haus presents Aesthetic Disorder, a group show. Aesthetic Disorder presents a variety of sculptures that question or reimagine color, texture and form. The exibith opens on June 27 and continues through July 11, 2015. The opening reception will take place on Wednesday, June 27, 6:00-10:00 p.m.
The sculptures in this exhibition represent ideological distortion and disorder. Together, their colors, textures, and forms evoke an ambiguous sensuality that lures the viewer through ironic, and in some cases optimistic, aesthetic provocations. As the colors move through the gaze, they invite us to envision the world other than it is. Aesthetic Disorder aims to create a world in which we do more than merely survive; it aims to create a world in which we may live our obsessions. Yet, it also acts as a reminder of the existence of familiar and traditional forms in the most predictable of realities. This group show highlights nine artists working outside the boundaries of traditional sculpture based on assembled everyday materials and the functional realities of daily life.
