Jeanine Breaker’s recent work deals with the creative potential of methods/techniques employed by geoscientists to study the Earth’s “dermis” and “epidermis,” to provide a uniquely visceral material engagement of the soil and to enhance public awareness regarding issues of climate change and landscape preservation. Integrating a drawing practice with specialized geological techniques that embody the soil such as drillcore collection and soil-profile peeling to create multi-media “art/efacts.”
