Jeffrey Forsythe’s paired down, minimalist installation sculptures and elaborate cut paper paintings create a platform on which to examine the trophy in American society. The trophy is a cultural symbol of value. It functions as a reward for those people and places upholding the highest standards of education, spirituality, and wealth. Forsythe re-contextualizes iconic imagery and objects associated with the trophy, offering a challenge to traditional value structures. In doing so, the artist calls into question how our culture defines value.

Forsythe received his MFA from University of New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana in 2000. Forsythe is represented by Perimeter Gallery in Chicago and has exhibited at Hinge Gallery in Chicago, Giola Gallery in Chicago, Jonathan Ferrara Gallery in New Orleans, Art Basel in Miami, and Bridge Art in Miami. Forsythe’s work has been featured in the New York Times and a national review in ArtNews.
