If you can’t handle me at my Babitz, you don’t deserve me at my Didion
Scotch and soda, Joan and Eve, hard to swallow. The title of this screening comes from a bumper sticker. It stems from the desire to be Joan, but feeling like an Eve.This collection of films attempts to flex the cool, overshare the vulnerable, confront the 60s, feminism, crazy girls and stone cold foxes.
Films by: Magdalena Bermudez, Videofreex, Sofia Theodore-Pierce and Grace Mitchell, and Sam Drake
Programmed by Caitlin Ryan and organized with Sara Sowell, Emily Eddy, and Drew Durepos
Who they are:
Our attitude toward programming is experimental, effusive and irreverent, with a particular affinity for bad girls, materiality, the unruly, and artists who move freely between disciplines. We respond to a need for non-academic workspaces where artists can access tools, resources, and shared knowledge to make and preserve DIY moving-image work.
