About the event
Light as Subject. Symbol. Material.
I Saw the Light is an interactive art experience featuring 20+ Chicago artists exploring light as a medium of expression, a symbol of transformation, and a material that shapes how we experience the world around us. Through diverse artistic practices, the exhibition invites audiences to consider how light influences perception, reveals new perspectives, and creates meaning through color, form, texture, and space.
Directed and curated by Matt Katz, this exhibition reflects his artistic vision and curatorial leadership, bringing together a collection of works that explore the many ways light can be interpreted, experienced, and transformed. In partnership with SZNL Chicago, Katz leads the creative direction of a multidisciplinary experience that celebrates Chicago’s artistic community and creates space for meaningful engagement between artists, their work, and the public.
Hosted at SZNL Chicago in the heart of Pilsen, I Saw the Light offers more than a traditional gallery experience. It is an invitation to look closer, experience differently, and discover what becomes visible when we change the way we see.
