Inhabiting the Fragment: a Poetry and Collage Workshop on Unsettled Territories
@ Agitator Gallery
3851 W Fullerton Ave, Chicago, IL 60647
Opening Sunday, July 26th, from 2PM - 4PM
On view through Sunday, July 26th
How do we map the spaces between displacement, memory, and the bodies we inhabit? In this hands-on workshop, we will transmute the themes of Unsettled Territories into tangible art, using poetry and collage to confront dominant narratives and disrupt stability.
Using a vocabulary of visual strategies and text disruption, we will reveal the unseen infrastructures—emotional, physical, political, and personal—that govern our lives. We won’t merely depict fragmented realities; we will inhabit them. Through the act of cutting, pasting, and writing, participants will tear apart the expected to make visible the ruptures and beauty of contemporary lived experience.
No prior experience in poetry or art-making required—just an open mind and a willingness to experiment. Magazines, paper, scissors, paint, glue sticks, and stickies will be supplied.
