The 22nd Annual Art on Cardboard Show
@ Project Onward
1200 W 35th St, 4th floor, Chicago, IL
Opening Friday, November 21st, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Saturday, December 6th
It’s the 22nd installment of a beloved Chicago institution – “The Art on Cardboard Show”. In 2002, Allan Pocius started it in his apartment as a playful & democratic rebuke to art world stuffiness. The show has always been open to all, with no artists turned away. A few years later the reins were taken up by his brother Mike. Nicknamed ”The King of Chicago Street Photographers”, Mike was also one of Chicago’s original punk rockers.
Now on its fourth year of being hosted in Project Onward’s own Whitney R. Oliver Gallery, this is the one exhibition year-round that’s open to participants outside of our studio. Always a surprising mix, previous shows have featured Chicagoland heroes like Tom Torluemke, Roman Villlareal, and Michael Hernandez de Luna – as well as out-of-town beauties by children from Haiti. Mike says, ”I just call it fun.”
