The gallery is proud to present a two-person exhibition of new paintings by Sicily-based painter Peppi Bottrop and Mexico City-based painter Robert Janitz.

Peppi Bottrop (b. 1986 in Bottrop, DE) lives and works in Militello in Val di Catania, Italy. Recent solo exhibitions of Bottrop’s works include Jungle Rapture (2021) at Pilar Corrias in London, schwarze schraube deutschland (2021) at PKM Gallery in Seoul, Going Deeper Underground (2020) at Galería Heinrich Ehrhardt in Madrid, Sabotage (2020) at Galerie Meyer Riegger in Berlin, and How Long is Forgotten (202) at Sies + Höke in Düsseldorf. Bottrop’s work has also been the subject of a number of recent institutional exhibitions including Jetzt! Junge Malerei in Deutschland (2019) at Kunstmuseum Bonn, Museum Wiesbaden and Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, Line Packers (with Albert Oehlen) (2018) at the Marciano Art Foundation in Los Angeles, Hovel (2016) at Kunstverein Heppenheim in Heppenheim, Germany; and Fasi Lunari (2016) at Fondazione Carriero in Milan. In 2014, Bottrop graduated as Meisterschüler from Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, studying under Albert Oehlen, Andreas Schulze, and Jutta Koether.

Robert Janitz (b. 1962 in Alsfeld, DE) lives and works in Mexico City. Recent solo exhibitions of Janitz’s work include Best of All Worlds (2021) (curated by Gianni Jetzer) at Casa Gilardi in Mexico City, The Labyrinth (2021) at Sevil Dolmaci Gallery in Istanbul, <3 ist ein Tippfehler (2020) at KÖNIG GALERIE in Berlin, and Change in Paradise (2019) at KÖNIG LONDON in London. Janitz’s work has been included in a number of recent important group exhibitions, some of these include: Units (2021) (curated by Christian Camacho) at PEANA in Monterrey, Mexico; Spirito Andante (2021) (curated by Alex Chicle) at Archivo Collectivo in Mexico City, and Frozen Gestures (2019) at Kunstmuseum Winterthur in Winterthur, Switzerland. From 1982 until 1988, Janitz studied Ethnology, Comparative Religion, Indology, and Art History at Philipps Universität Marburg in Germany. Janitz’s works are held in esteemed private and institutional collections world-wide and his practice has been the subject of numerous reviews and features in various international art publications.
