Drink & Draw Virtual: Visual Resistance
@ Spudnik Press Cooperative
Online
Opening Wednesday, July 22nd, from 7PM - 9PM
Atlan Arceo-Witzl welcomes you to a night of political print history and new political art making! Beginning with an exciting introduction to the famous Mexican workshop and artist collective Taller Gráfico Popular (The People’s Graphic Workshop), Atlan will inspire us with the many ways that artists and activists have used print and design for social justice, building community, distributing graphics for revolutionary movements.
Next we will move into our own political art making. Maybe you want to make a collage, poster, or slick infographic about racial justice or public health. Or you might get inspired to draw satirical cartoons or make one of their present-day cousins: The Meme! This Drink & Draw will be a chance to give your ideas some direction and bounce them off other creative folks, whatever stage they’re in. We’ll share what we’re working through right now and leave with clear, strong imagery to take out into our current moment.
