PBS Spice Road Live at SAI
@ South Asia Institute
1925 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60616
Opening Saturday, July 18th, at 7 PM
Join South Asia Institute for a special evening celebrating the Chicago premiere of the new season of Spice Road, the acclaimed PBS series exploring South Asian food, culture, and community across the United States.
Hosted by actor and co-creator Rupak Ginn and co-created by Emmy Award-winning, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sami Khan, the evening features exclusive screenings of the first two Chicago episodes, followed by a live conversation with the creators.
The new season spotlights some of Chicago’s most beloved South Asian restaurants—including Thattu, Indinne, Sukhadia’s, and Cafe Nova—revealing how food becomes a powerful expression of migration, memory, identity, and belonging.
Guests will also enjoy food from Thattu and Sukhadia’s while connecting with fellow food lovers, filmmakers, and members of the community.
