Deconstructing the Image: Creative Coding Workshop with Maddie Brucker
@ Mouse Arts and Letters CLub
555 W 31st ST, Chicago IL 60616
Opening Thursday, July 2nd, from 6PM - 8PM
On July 2nd from 6-8 at Mouse Arts and Letters Club in Bridgeport, CCAM: Center for Concrete and Abstract Machines and ALMANAC artist collective are hosting Maddie Brucker for a p5.js workshop. You’re invited!
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
In an era in which we are bombarded with more digital images than ever, how can we resist the paradigm of doomscrolling and AI slop forced upon us? Perhaps we might start by examining what makes the “seamless” consumption of digital media possible. This introductory workshop on creative coding and image processing takes a low-level approach, exploring the protocols and algorithms underpinning the interfaces of our social media feeds. Using the p5.js programming language, we will learn how computers store, transmit, and display images, and create our own poetic image algorithms.
