Yvonne Doll
@ Center on Halsted
3656 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60613
Opening Friday, October 3rd, from 6:30PM - 8:30PM
Yvonne Doll works in lyrical abstraction, where color, gesture, and rhythm create fragments of story rooted in the human experience. Influenced by abstract expressionists such as Miró, Rothko, and Dubuffet, her canvases shift between instinct and structure, unfolding like improvised scores. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Doll has been a fixture of the city’s arts community for over three decades and an active member of the Fulton Street Collective for more than fifteen years. Her dual careers as painter and musician (lead singer/songwriter in the indie rock band, The Locals) feed one another—compositions often begin as visual marks, while canvases absorb the cadence of songs. The result is a body of work where sound becomes color, and image becomes lyric.
