Skokie Public Library hosts a public event to celebrate the acquisition of six new art works on July 17, 2025 at 6:30 pm. The library is located at 5215 Oakton St., Skokie, IL 60077.

More about Skokie Public Library’s Art Collection
Soon after the Skokie Public Library moved into its first dedicated building in the 1960s, it began building a permanent art collection. Pieces were mostly acquired by donation. Following the interior renovation of the building in 2020, a staff committee convened to assess the art collection and develop a new vision for it: In support of the library’s mission to encourage lifelong learning and discovery, we aim to establish a robust and relevant collection of visual art. Building on our artistic legacy, we will invigorate our permanent collection with work that inspires and enlightens, reflects the evolving diversity of our community, provokes further investigation and deeper understanding, and cultivates a culture of art appreciation. These six new acquisitions are the first pieces chosen under this vision.
