Jun 14th 2025

Please join the Workshop in Trans Studies (WITS) for a summer celebration on Saturday June 14th in Rogers Park! Open to the public!

From 4:00pm-6:00pm we will have screen printing set up along with happy hour beverages and snacks for folks to delight in. Our wonderful and original design, featuring the slogan “Protect Trans Lives,” was made by workshop member Nat Happe. (If you haven’t screen printed before, you can either bring your own T-shirt or other item with you, or we will have some shirts, bags, etc. for you to use. No experience required!)

From 6:00pm-7:30pm, we will have a community roundtable featuring Marquis Bey and Temperance Aghamohammadi from Northwestern as well as artists and scholars from the community, Katz Tepper and Yunkyo Moon-Kim. Together they will discuss their own projects on topics ranging from “Gilding The Line: Poetry, Ornamentation, and Vexed Language” to “Pharmacy Receipts,” before moving into a discussion on the different roles that trans studies can play in our community and Q&A.

After the roundtable, there will be pizza, revelry, and further conversation from 7:30pm-9:00pm.

You can just swing by or stay for the whole time! The event will take place at the PO Box Collective (6900 N Glenwood Ave), and is free & open to the public.

Masks required for attendees, but not presenter
The PO Box Collective is accessible by ramp with an accessible bathroom and we have 2 air purifiers running.
