CLEAT Series: Kate In, Leech/Clapp, Laurentse
@ Elastic Arts
3429 W Diversey Ave, #208, Chicago IL, 60647
Opening Friday, June 13th, at 8PM
At this month’s CLEAT Series we’ll have a solo performance from Laurentse, a duo of series curator Sam Clapp and Jake Leech, then a fixed media choir composition from Kate In!
Kate In presents Drop Lift & Fly, a composition for live choir and fixed media that moves through themes of ecological mimicry, ceremony, and cybernetics. It uses the interplay between the choir’s voice array and the CLEAT system’s overhead speaker grid to explore the spatial dimensions of sound.
Laurentse is the moniker of Chicago-based musician Max Reikosky. Via prior releases with Shimmering Moods Records and Melty Tapes, his output spans electro-acoustic ambient palettes to art-damaged sound collage. His current work aims to explore the process of merging identities through cross-genre pollination, multi-instrumental experiments, and spontaneous field recording.
Bassist Jake Leech will then connect with musician Sam Clapp for a first-time duo performance.
Music at 8pm
$15 / $10 w/ Student ID – Tickets Available at the Door
