Aonna Jones: For the Good
@ Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts
540 S Lake Street, Gary IN 46403
Opening Friday, February 7th, from 6PM - 8PM
On view through Friday, March 14th
In the last exhibit at the Marshall J Gardner Center for the Arts, self-taught Northwest Indiana oil painter Aonna Jones explores themes of motherhood, childhood memories, and the interconnectivity of individuals. Through portraiture painted in oil on uniquely shaped wood ‘canvases,’ Jones touches on what is unseen. As the artist expresses it, “There are a lot of moments in life that feel like a slight haze. Memories aren’t as vivid, and emotions turn them into smoke that we’re left to interpret. Yet, as the smoke fades, all of the memories combine into one. knowing that it all works together for the good.”
The exhibit begins with an opening reception on February 7, followed by an artist talk on February 8 at 2 p.m. Both events and the exhibit are free and open to the public.
