Brother El, the founder and host of Sandbox Symphony, stands as an arts innovator on Chicago’s hip hop and electronic music scenes. Beyond his traditional performances throughout the city, he’s recently been acting as an ambassador for Chicago, the city where he was born and raised. His unique approach to music creation involves a deep yet warm and welcoming spontaneous composition, which has been featured on Fox 32 News, CHIRP Radio, and BBoy Tech Report. He recently received the prestigious Illinois Arts Council Fellowship for his groundbreaking approaches to sound. Within the last few years, Brother El has focused on promoting and creating original arts education programs in his community for youth on the South and West Sides. During the Sandbox Symphony, Brother El will play a fully-improvised set using analog synthesizers, drum machines, and sequencers. This event also features a stellar line-up of creatives from the Oakwood/North Kenwood neighborhood.
