Join us as Mellon Fellow, vocalist and performer Yaw Agyeman presents his research from the archives and collections as a public event.

Join us for our final Mellon Archives Innovation Program of the season with a special performance by artist Yaw Agyeman. During the program titled ‘Dear Old Thing,’ Agyeman will present his research inspired by postcards from the collections and archives at the Stony Island Arts Bank.

“who could know

the lines and marks

the width and breadth

were all beauty marks

and the world

was all

wrong and i am not what they say”

In these moving lines, Mellon Fellow Yaw Agyeman offers poetic reflection to the written and unwritten messages on postcards in the Ed J. Williams collection. Agyeman offers us a sonic response that mines the complex, competing, and all together vexing ways these postcards communicate hierarchies of personhood. Join us for this special presentation of sound and song.

Seating is first-come, first-serve.
