ON THE SLEEVE

Opening Friday, June 16th, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Friday, July 14th
It’s fascinating how much we can convey about ourselves through our fashion choices. Wordlessly, we speak volumes about who we are on the inside through how we present ourselves on the outside. Fashion is one of the purest forms of self-expression we engage in daily, intentionally or not. Every day, we make deliberate statements about our connection to the world simply by getting dressed. As we grow and our style evolves, our outfits become self-portraits reflecting culture, personality, and fleeting emotions. Artists, in particular, use fashion as an extension of their creativity, revealing themselves through every aspect of their wardrobe and work. This show is a tapestry of color, form, texture, and movement that explores the intersection of fashion and art. We’re excited to be weaving in pieces from Arts of Life in this special exhibit, which will kick off with an opening reception on June 16th from 6 pm to 9 pm. Dressing to the nines is highly encouraged- you might just be someone’s next muse!
Each artist has approached this subject with their own unique flair. Krishaun Williams brings clothes to life by fusing them and people into fluid and dramatic shapes. Molly Mcgrath takes her love of Barbie and all things dolls to chronicle trends across eras. And Louis DeMarco reverently captures the nostalgia of beloved sitcoms by highlighting the iconic looks of TV’s leading ladies. If you find yourself too fashionably late for the opening night, this exhibit will be on display in our gallery until July 15th!
