Opening Friday, May 7th, from 3PM - 8PM
On view through Wednesday, June 16th
Chicago Artists Coalition is pleased to present Human Shell, a solo exhibition of new works by 2019-2020 BOLT artist-in-residence, Jacquelyn Carmen Guerrero. This exhibition will include a series of experimental movement performances documented by ColectivoMultipolar during their 2021 TRQPITECA Miami Artist Residency. The exhibition will have an opening day on Friday, May 7, by appointment only, from 3-8pm. Please reserve your time here.
Scored by original musical compositions, performance videos reflect the shifting, migration, and intertwining of human and nonhuman bodies in natural and artificial environments over time. Photographs, printed in large format, are embroidered with gemstone beads. Like scars healing from the punctures of the embroidery needle, these mutations signal the regeneration of my physical and spiritual bodies in response to intense natural and man-made processes. Through a communion with home land, sacred spaces are revealed, and spiritual landscapes are transformed.
This work was made possible by TRQPITECA and printed at Latitude Chicago.
