Mexican artist Elina Chauvet’s has used her “Los Zapatos Rojos” installation to state that it is not enough to remember victims of femicide for one day. Her work demands the end of violence against women.
Her installation consists of numerous red shoes, “Los Zapatos Rojos,” was founded as a public art project in 2009 and has been exposed in Ciudad Juárez, the city where the femicide rate is high enough to be called “the city that kills women.” On Thursday, March 8th, the installation will be on display at the DePaul Art Museum.
