ABOUT CHRIS PAPPAN
Currently on view through 2019, The Field Museum exhibit, “Drawing on Tradition: Kanza Artist Chris Pappan,” represents a long overdue moment in time when a large institution has engaged Native American artists to curate their own exhibit, control the dialogue and shape the image portrayed. The exhibit features 17 original Chris Pappan drawings and paintings that build on traditional Plains Indians narrative art forms.

“His pieces are at once beautiful works of art and brilliant commentaries on the political and cultural treatment of Native peoples.”
