Hyperlink Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Pink Days and Blue Days, features work by artists Theresa Anderson, Amber Cobb,Sandra Fettingis and Laura Shill. Pink Days and Blue Days borrows its title from a 1997 Louise Bourgeious assemblage and references interdisciplinary approaches to art-making as a survival tactic that allows artistic careers to have longevity in the face of uncertainty. Each artist in this exhibition explores form through material but in varied and ever changing ways.
The opening reception for Pink Days and Blue Days will be Friday, October 17, 2014 from 6-10pm at the Hyperlink Gallery 1029 W. 35th St. Chicago, IL 60609. Contact Amber Cobb, amberdawncobb@gmail.com or Kathryn Wingard, hyperlink.org@gmail.com, for further information.
Hyperlink is a nebulous collective of artists who select satellite cities to physically connect with art communities in a similar way to the way in which the internet has shaped our experience as artists and connected us virtually. While the net has opened floodgates for artists to easily disseminate their imagery, even with ubiquitous travel, the limits of geographical distance are often still a hindrance to a tangible, and meaningful, connectivity with art. Hyperlink artists connect to local artists in their home page via critical dialogue, curated exhibitions, and collaboration. For the 2014/15 year, Hyperlink has selected Chicago as its home page and will operate out of the Zhou B Art Center. The links created through this experiment should grow like roots and sprout new tendrils.
