Rami George, Dan Paz, and Jenyu Wang: The Square Root of Pi(e)
@ Chicago Artists Coalition
217 N Carpenter St., Chicago, IL 60607
Opening Friday, August 22nd, from 6PM - 9PM
On view through Thursday, September 11th
In The Square Root of Pi(e), HATCH Projects Residents Rami George, Dan Paz, and Jenyu Wang delve into the unknown, addressing subjectivity, identity, and fragmented narratives.
Through sensual manipulation, magnified memories, and fixated research, these artists interact with the unknown by employing digital media and charged ephemera to simultaneously challenge and negotiate our notions of control. The number pi—one of the most common constants in mathematics, and yet an inexact value that essentially never ends—is an example of a shared human desire to explain the inexplicable, the enigmatic, and the mysterious.
What does one do with an unanswered question, an incalculable variable, or an unquantifiable set of details? The Square Root of Pi(e) presents a slice of sweet alternatives, generating new chronicles, inclusive archives, and palatable bodies of work.
