In Artifice from the Cave, HATCH residents Lauren Carter, Benjamin DeMott, and Edyta Stepien explore the making of structures of sight, anxiety, and the act of seeing itself. Through the unmaking and remaking of the senses—breaking them open and peering inside with a convalescent lens—the artists reconstruct an approach to art and space through knowledge formation and diagnosis.
