Spudnik Press Cooperative Presents:
In Progress Benefit Auction
“To finish a work? To finish a picture? What nonsense! To finish it means to be through with it, to kill it, to rid it of its soul, to give it its final blow the coup de grace for the painter as well as for the picture.” -Pablo Picasso
To progress is to advance; to do more; to do better. Yet, progress is not something you complete, but something that should remain a constant. Progress is an ongoing expedition critical to growth and development. It is with this in mind that each fall, Spudnik Press pays homage to the role progress plays in an artist’s practice, while raising the funds needed to keep our studio in progress.
In Progess is a benefit auction that features studio sketches, visual brainstorms, artist proofs, drafts, studies, notes, and ephemera from the studio practices of a diverse and impressive lineup of artists, including Paul Nudd, Brad Vetter, Miller and Shellabarger, Peter Mars, and Carrie Gundersdorf. Keeping with Spudnik’s mission to remain an affordable and democratic platform for all, artwork comes framed and bidding starts at $35. Additionally, the auction will feature a curated selection, handpicked by guest curator, Mark Pascale, Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at The Art Institute of Chicago, with bids starting at just $60.
Once bids are placed, enjoy artisan cocktails crafted by Mark Brinker of The Barrelhouse Flat, delicious treats, and excellent beer. Then step into our printshop to try your hand at running a press! Bidding ends at 9:30pm.
Free; $20 suggested door donation includes a commemorative artist-designed block printed t-shirt.
Artists Include:
