Terrain Exhibitions presents a site-specific sculpture by Chicago based artist Alex Tam…A Mechanical Disruption of the Past

The world is hidden to us without a source of light; light reveals objects in the world and allows us to implement our will on time and space. With this in mind, Tam harnesses light to reveal the space between the architecture of Terrain and the elements of the artwork, and unveils the fractures within the piece itself. The video component is both a signifier of the physical object, its simulation, and a light source that exposes and disrupts the space.

Graduating from Columbia College Chicago in 2012, Alex Tam has been included in the
21st Evanston and Vicinity Biennial in Evanston, IL, Chicago Curates Columbia: Dan Devening + Fine Art at the C-33 Gallery in Chicago, IL and in 24hrs/25days at New Capital Gallery, also in Chicago.
