Ben Dimock: Maps + Monuments
@ The Milk Factory
907 N. Winchester Ave. Rear Apt. Chicago, Il 60622
Opening Friday, June 15th, from 7PM - 10PM
Friday, June 15th,from 7-10 PM, the Milk Factory will feature the opening of MAPS + MONUMENTS, an exhibition of prints by Ben Dimock.
In this series of prints, Ben Dimock investigates architecture as a coded language that dictates daily experience. Rendering this language through the printed image allows Dimock to produce multiple permutations from a single photograph or drawing.Through the decisive omission of built form from rigid landscapes and implementation of fragmented grids, censorious overlays and frantic mark-making, Dimock injects disorder into the built environment.
Dimock’s work will be shown in conjunction with DECIPHER, a continuation of The Parlor’s monthly salon series. In this month’s installment, The Parlor will be featuring a collection of text based works presented by Tim Hogan, Jeff Sherfey, Jenn Swann, and Andreas Whillhoff.
