YANIRA CASTRO: I CAME HERE TO WEEP
@ Honeycomb Network
2657 W Division St, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Saturday, October 5th, from 3PM - 8:30PM
On view through Sunday, November 17th
The Honeycomb Network is proud to be a part of a hub site for Yanira Castro’s Coordinated Public Art Project titled “Exorcism = Liberation” which investigates our relationship to land, self-determination, migration, and climate disaster.
Through the project, Castro and a multitude of artists invite the American public to imagine alternative futures through the lens of Puerto Rican culture and the U.S.’ ongoing colonial history.
The Honeycomb Network is one of a multitude of participating community and arts organizations in a multi-city wide experience with presence in New York City, Chicago, and the Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts.
In addition, to having us be an activation site for this public project with a sound experience art piece titled “I came here to weep,” beginning October 5th, Yanira will also use this piece to expand on in an interactive “I came here to Weep” Exhibition that will run from October 5th – November 17th as our Autumn 2024 artist in residence.
