ABOUT THE ARTISTS & CURATOR
Aïsha Lehmann is a Chicago-based artist and Sociology doctoral student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Originally from Utah, she completed Brigham Young University’s Studio Art BFA program, minoring in Sociology and Africana Studies. As a social scientist, Lehmann’s research interests include racial identity formation and categorization, in particular their ability to shape resource allocation and mobility. Her art practice builds on these same themes, visualizing the components and essences of social constructions and their lovely, or contrarily, detrimental real-life manifestations. Her illustrative metaphors employ quotidian objects, patterns, and the human figure, utilizing drawing, collage, and printmaking techniques. @aishalehmann.art
Reevah Agarwaal is a multi-disciplinary artist from New Delhi, India, currently based in Chicago, IL. She received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2024. Her work delves into domestic dualities, exploring love and violence, power and shame, and isolation and centrality by weaving rich narratives in quilts and collage works. Inspired by aesthetics of girlhood, she uses feminine palettes and decorative elements as well as repurposed sentimental objects. She aims to elevate the narratives of women and girlhood, shedding light on stories often overlooked in patriarchal hegemony. The transformation and activation of personal archives in her work symbolize a reclamation of feminist history from a history of exclusion, intergenerational trauma, hierarchies, and internalized misogyny. Her work has appeared in various shows including Stainless Gallery (New Delhi), Woman Made Gallery, Research House for Asian Art, Zhou B Art Center, Co-Prosperity Sphere, Purple Window Gallery, Color Club, South Asia Institute, FLXST Contemporary, Free Range, and The Martin (Chicago). She also has permanent public artwork on view in South Chicago which was funded by Chicago Public Art Group and South Chicago Parents and Friends. Recently she received the New Futures Award from The Other Art Fair and is currently a resident at the Chicago Artists Coalition. @reev.art
